This event brings many people into our neighborhood and provides the opportunity for residents to clean out closets and maybe make a little extra money. By having an annual sale, it limits the traffic in our neighborhood to just one Saturday per year, rather than numerous individual sales and traffic throughout the year. Please support your neighbors and drive carefully through the neighborhood on the day of the garage sale.

How do I participate?

• Go to Ridgeland City Hall no later than the Wednesday prior to the Saturday garage sale to get a garage sale permit; the permit is check or cash for $2.50. 

• Follow participation instructions for the day of the sale at the bottom of this page.

• Tie balloons to your mailbox on garage sale day morning to indicate you are a garage sale participant.

 

How will the sale be promoted?

• Signs will be posted outside of the neighborhood entrances one week in advance.

• Social media posts will begin the week before the sale on Facebook, Craigslist and Nextdoor.

 

2022 SHADOWOOD-WENDOVER Annual Neighborhood Garage Sale Participation Instructions

Garage Sale Date: Saturday, May 7, 2022  Start Time: 6 am

 

• DISPLAY your City of Ridgeland Garage Sale Permit the entire time of your sale. You can be fined if you do not have it visible to the public.

• Attach balloons to your mailbox early Saturday morning when you are ready to sell. Do not put them out before. The sale officially begins at 6 a.m. on Saturday, but there will be people driving around as early as 4:30 a.m. Balloons indicate you are a garage sale participant.

• You are not authorized by this permit to sell any other time than Saturday, May 7, 2022. The City permit is for a one day sale for Saturday only. Please keep your garage door closed and outside lights off on Friday night to discourage customers.

• Have pricing, cash and plans in place for your sale by Friday night! Plan to get cash in small bills from your bank by Thursday.

• You can close your sale at any time. Please clear all of your items from view and remove balloons from your mailbox. DO NOT leave items on the curb overnight. It is your responsibility to remove all items.

• This event is rain or shine. There is NO rain out date. As a resident, you are allowed (2) garage sale permits in a 12 month period; if you participate, this is one of your two permits.
